The timely tour, held on Saturday 6th December 2008, was just days after yet another batch of such buses were deregistered and disappeared from route 852, to which a bulk of these buses were deployed to. This farewell tour was the first to have two buses on charter running through roads formerly plied by the UDs such as City Hall and Sing Ming, as well as Serangoon Gardens and Seletar. ComfortDelGro currently operates the bulk of premium services in Singapore, through its subsidiaries SBS Transit and ComfortDelGro Bus. Two types of premium services were offered - Premium and CityShopper - with the former ferrying office workers to the CBD on weekday mornings and the latter catering to heartlanders heading to the Orchard Road and Suntec City shopping districts. The CityShopper services however, were all withdrawn by July 2009 due to low demand. Prior to the growth in the premium bus service market, SBS Transit has been operating a number of basic-plus services which are essentially routes that cater to niche sectors and charge higher fares than basic services, but not as expensive as their premium counterparts. They include the Express, Fast Forward, Chinatown Direct, Stadium Direct, Nite Owl and Parks bus services. SMRT is the second largest provider of Premium bus services, deploying mostly Dennis Lance and BusPlus PA-registered buses on Premium routes 530, 531, 541, 546, 547, 587, 588, 589, 590, 597, 598 and 599; as well as one route from Hillview estate to the CBD. In addition, it runs three Express routes 188E, 854E and 963E as well as a number of shuttle services to private housing estates through its BusPlus subsidiary. Besides adopting the new SMB registration plate number series, the interior also features the company's corporate colours of red, grey and black. Bodied by Fuji Heavy Industries, the 50 units of Japanese buses were introduced in 1993, with 6 of them registered under TIBS (TIB362M to TIB377X) and the remaining (CSS178K to CSS187J, CSS188G to CSS211Y) given to its subsidiary Singapore Shuttle Bus Pte Ltd who ran the City Shuttle Services. Following acquisition by SMRT and the subsequent withdrawal of CSS routes, some were withdrawn from service while the remaining were transferred over to SMRT Buses, with some retaining their registration plate numbers and others re-registered into the TIB series. Strong disapproval from the public towards these buses (which ironically feature one of the best airconditioning and most comfortable seats around), forced their early retirement in 2008/2009. Except for just a handful such as TIB1252R, the other units have never received any major refurbishment works unlike buses of other models in the fleet.
