In conjunction with the launch of 'Go Green With SMRT' campaign in April 2008, Singapore's leading train operator unveiled its new Euro V compliant Mercedes Benz OC500LE - the first such citybus in Southeast Asia. The bus is bodied by Malaysia's Gemilang and features a Citaro front.
This model, the first to be brought in by SMRT following its acquisition of TIBS, is also the first in its fleet to be wheelchair-accessible and is fitted with orange-coloured Lawo EDS with the route number displayed on the right. Besides adopting the new SMB registration plate number series, the interior also features the company's corporate colours of red, grey and black.
Registration plate numbers:
SMB1H to SMB43L - 43 units
The Mercedes Benz OC500LEs are based at SMRT's Ang Mo Kio and Kranji Depots. |
