| SMRT Buses, then TIBS, rolled out 50 units of airconditioned Scania L113CRL buses into service in 1995. All of them were bodied with Walter Alexander Strider bodywork, similar to a batch of SBS's Volvo B10M MK4 buses.
Another 15 units entered service in 1996. Unlike the initial batch of Scanias, these buses were non-airconditioned and were bodied by ELBO with Arianne seats which were new to TIBS. These buses are also the first in TIBS' fleet to feature zero-step boarding. The irony - they were neither proper low-floor nor low-entrance chassis buses. They were later refurbished in 2002 with overhead airconditioning units after TIBS' initiative to run a full fleet of airconditioned buses. Registration plate numbers: TIB562C to TIB571B, TIB635B to TIB674M (Walter Alexander) - 50 units TIB833X to TIB837K, TIB839E to TIB848D (ELBO) - 15 units All Scania buses are based at SMRT Woodlands Depot. |
